Reading and how to help students with its many facets is a tough subject when it come to education.  As educators, we are in a battle to continue to make education relevant.  I am one of the dedicated, hard-working teachers in the trenches of education every day. Many different issues vie for attention when working with students and reading.  Everything from helping parents to understand the importance of reading to young children to helping older students wade through the onslaught of information the internet gives them at their fingertips (or thumbs when using a phone).  Reading in the Trenches is a site to help target the various battles of getting students to think, connect, and question while they are reading.  Let’s rally the troops, dig in, and work on better and smarter solutions for reading with our students!
